Personality & Traits
General Overview | Tork is a brilliant cobbler of tech—brash, fast-talking, and confident in a way that suggests he's been right more often than anyone expected. He thrives on chaos and constraint, preferring limitations because they give him excuses to do things his way. He isn't anti-social—just disinterested in people who can't keep up. While not aggressively insubordinate, Tork often acts first and explains later (if at all). His love of technology transcends species, regulation, and common sense. He’s not introspective, doesn’t wax poetic, and thinks philosophy is for people who can’t wire a power relay. |
|
Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths: Brilliant at cross-species tech integration Unorthodox problem solver under pressure Mechanically fearless—will try anything once Loyal to crewmates who respect his skill Weaknesses: Poor adherence to Starfleet protocol Tends to “fix” things that weren’t broken Occasionally hoards valuable components Awful with documentation—his notes are half-drawn schematics and snack stains |
|
Hobbies & Interests | Hoarding obscure tech, hoarding not so obscure tech, hoarding... did we mention he likes to hoard? |
History
Personal History | Tork was born aboard the Pride of Bortha, a mid-sized Ferengi trade hauler that spent more time skirting warp core safety limits than making real profit. Raised among half-functional power converters and jury-rigged replicators, Tork cared more about ship systems than commerce. By adolescence, he'd already rerouted the ship’s EPS grid twice—once by necessity, once out of boredom. He joined Starfleet on a whim at age 23 after being pitched “full access to the Federation’s most advanced technology.” For Tork, that was better than latinum. |
Service Record
Service Record | Starfleet Academy (2386–2390) Entered Starfleet Academy at age 23 under an Engineering track. Nearly washed out twice for “unauthorized component substitution” in field repair simulations. Eventually graduated with a commendation in systems improvisation and cross-platform diagnostics. USS Silhouet (2390–2393) Assigned to an aging Excelsior-class vessel. Cut his teeth doing emergency repairs in the middle of a retrofitting refit cycle. Single-handedly kept the main deflector online during a gravitic storm by splicing in a 70-year-old Klingon power distributor. Ship’s XO called him “an infuriating genius.” He still quotes that. USS Radial (2393–2397) Transferred to a Nebula-class science cruiser. Tasked with maintaining sensor array alignment across experimental subsystems. Developed a reputation for integrating alien tech without pre-clearance. Created an unapproved—but efficient—hybrid scanner combining Cardassian and Vulcan components. USS Andarok (2397–2400) Mid-sized support ship posted to a disputed border zone. Served as assistant chief engineer. Rebuilt an entire power relay junction using salvaged Dominion-era components. Also sold some of his own repair blueprints back to the ship’s quartermaster—for "replicator credit." No charges filed. |
